Camping!!!

I went camping with a big group of friends over the memorial day weekend. It was fun to sit around the campfire, smell smokey, and eat "camp food" again after such a long winter. These are some of my friends from Colorado. We camped and went hiking at Catamount Falls just outside Colorado Springs. What a great time!

Commencent Ceremony

Here we are at the large, whole school commencement ceremony. The great thing about going to two graduations is that they are VERY short!!! I was bracing myself for another FOUR hour ceremony just like the one's I've experienced at UAA but thank goodness it was only two hours!

Whirlwind College Graduation

Well, hello again everyone! I'm back! It has been a crazy couple of weeks with graduations, family and friends in town, and many parties to celebrate but I think things have returned back to "normal" and I can share with you all the exciting news and events.

I have FINALLY GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE!!! Yes, it's true. I even had the pleasure (can you smell the sarcasm in my voice) of attending TWO graduation ceremonies. Here are a few pictures of them for you to enjoy.

As many of you know, Gerry and I LOVE to mountain bike. Here we are on one of my favorite biking trails called Rainbow Gulch Trail. It is about 15 miles long but completely worth the long ride because of the beautiful views and great trail to ride on.

Estes Park, CO 2006

Here we are in Estes Park, Colorado in the summer of 2006. We decided to go camping in the middle of the week so hardly anybody would be around and because we can with Gerry's fabulous schedule! we were going for a leisurely camping trip and maybe some hiking when we decided to bike up this road that turned out to be 9 MILES long up hill the whole way! No joke! I was tired by mile 5 and wanted to turn around but no way....we needed to get to the top. So we pushed (sometimes literally as I dragged my bike behind me) but we eventually made it. That's where you see Gerry with the picutre standing in about 8 feet of snow. Yeah, we were dragging our bikes through that too! All in all it was a blast and I'm glad we pushed ourselves to the top. It was an amazing view of the park and the mountains. It reminds me of Alaska a bit!

Telluride, CO--you gotta go sometime!

So here we are in Telluride, Colorado in the summer of 2005 with my amazing friend Julie Preston. i went to visit her because she had just moved into town and we were both elated that she had moved to Colorado. I've gotta say, this place is a beautiful place filled with a ton of activities in both the summer and winter. If you havn't been then you need to go. It''s a must!!!If you ever want to visit Colorado you have to see the western side of it. That is where there is the most beauty and activities. We will be moving this sujmmer to Boise, Idaho but I must say our time in Colorado has been a great one and we'll miss it terribly.

Grand Canyon, AZ 2006

Here we are at the Grand Canyon in Arizona! We were here for our spring break in 2006. We were on our way back from Las Vegas when Gerry, unfortunately, had a little accident on a dirt bike! He cracked three ribs, punctured a lung, and developed a pneumothorax (an air, blood, and serum pocket in the pleural cavity). I know, it's disgusting! He's all better now and back riding on bikes (the pedal kind). It must be something about two wheels that he loves! I don't know if he gets hurt less these days but he sure is an awesome rider. That's my dare devil!
So, here we are! our first blog ever! You know the crazy part of doing this...I can't even see what I am typing. The page is totally plank and the curser is moving but that is all I see! I will gry to make this legible but no promises. This is crazy!!!
So who are we do you ask? We are Gerry and Heather Poe of course! We were Alaskans but are currenlty living in Colorado Springgs, CO. This summer we are moving to Boise, ID to finish off my Registered Dietitian's Internship for the next year. We hope to be back in Alaska soon but God will be directing that one! Here are some pictures of us so you can get to know us! Until next time...
