Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas beauty

Time to open Stockings!

Because Gerry frequently misses Christmas (and will again this year) we do things a little differently. We do Christmas all through the month of December. I know, I know...you're now jealous because you only get a day or two to open gifts. Really, anybody can adopt this method and we think you should! It's so much more fun to drag it out! Here we are opening stockings.

Another year's gone by...

Since I have run out of time to type up a fancy letter to commemorate this last year's happenings...I will post it here instead. Here's to 2007!

Gerry:
1) Met a bunch of mountain biking junkies and had the thrill of his life parading on many-a-mountain trail and flying over 10-foot (or higher) jumps.
2) Continues to work on the Arctic Slope. He now works for CH2M Hill, a company that purchased VECO earlier this year. We are excited and hopeful about the new things to come with this company. Job security baby!
3) Currently engrosed in fantasy football. Sundays are filled with loud cheering and Gerry racing back and forth to the TV and computer to check stats. Please o please February come soon! :) (For those of you who are wondering, we go to church on saturday nights)

Heather:
1) Graduated from UCCS in May with a BS in Nutrition. FINALLY!
2) Started an RD Internship at ISU in Boise. Come December 20, 2007 I will be half done.
3) Was offered a Clinical RD position at the VA Hospital in Boise. Looks like we'll be camping out here for a little longer than we expected. Boise is nice though and we are excited to discover all of what Idaho has to offer.
4) Continue to wind down with scrapbooking and card-making. A magazine or two is also a pasttime that keeps my creative bug going in the midst of writing papers, doing presentations, and learning so much I think my head is going to explode soon.

Other things...
1) As you might have gathered...we moved to Boise, Idaho for my RD Internship in July. We were very sad to leave Colorado as we just happened upon a great group of christian friends. We loved our time in Colorado and hope to visit often. Such a great place for outdoor enthusiasts.
2) We're getting a dog!!! Finally we are able to get a dog because we are no longer living in apartments. We decided to wait until January because I will be flying up to Alaska for Christmas and figured mom and dad wouldn't want a big, roudy dog in their house.
3) Met many of our neighbors and discovered that many of them are christians. We
started a montly bible/prayer study to pray for each other and our community.
God continues to bless us regardless of where we land.

Funny

Funny...I didn't know color TV was popular!

Pictures of McCall

McCall, Idaho....recreation galore!

Two weekends ago (November 24-25th), Gerry and I ventured into the wilds of rural Idaho and found ourselves in McCall. Pleasantly enough, we found it was a recreation haven. The town sits on a rather large lake in the midst of beautiful mountains. With the surroundings comes three different ski resorts, a multitude of hot springs, any activity a mountain can provide such as hiking, biking, paragliding, and many more things the imagination can make up. Summer and Winter activities are of pleanty. I regret to say that we missed both of those seasons the weekend we ventured there. You would think that there would be enough snow by Thanksgiving but alas there was not and we found ourselves in the midst of the "slow season". Bummer! I bet by now there are many a people skiing down snowy slopes with feet of snow underneath. Oh well. We still made the best of it and relaxed inside our condo. It was the first time we had used our timeshare and it was well worth it. I think we'll be scheduling a few more trips up north to find a winter-wonderland and plenty of things to keep ourselves occupied.

I'm Baaaaack!

Hello everyone! No, I didn't die. Yes, I have neglected this blog and you're all probably wondering if I've given up. No, I've simply been CrAZi busy with an internship, a job, and life in general. Not to mention the holi-daze and all they demand.

Lake Cascade, Idaho

I went up last weekend with my fellow dietetic intern, Jessica, to explore the state. As we are both originally from other states and love to get away from the city and experience the outdoors, we found it high time to "get outta dodge." The weather was lacking but it was a pretty drive and a really fun way to re-center myself.

Speaking of fall time...

We have this beautiful tree in front of our yard. It stands tall and commands attention. Although, we thought it annoying at first because it's a Box Elder Tree and they attract nasty little box elder bugs. Yuck! It had hidden treasures in store for us though because we found it turns a gorgeous RED color (ahem, my favorite of all colors). It's the only one like it on our block. We get passer-bys stopping what ever they are doing to stop and take in the fiery beauty. We are sure glad fall time lingers around here because we get to enjoy our tree that much longer.

The good ol' days

I've been reminiscing lately on some of the best moments and memories (that I have pictures of anyway). Working on the Alyeska Pipeline as an Engineer Tech in the Summer of 2001 was the very best job I have ever had to this day. Repelling down Thompson Pass near Valdez, flying in a helicopter, hiking in the Brooks Range and running into big horn sheep, driving where no man has driven before....ahhhh it doesn't get any better than that. Oh wait it does...I was paid to do all of this! Ha ha. Like I said, the best job ever.

I just love the Fall!!!

Don't you just the fall time?! I sure do. I haven't been able to take a nice sunday drive down a long lane these days, so I reminisce on previous falls in Colorado. Enjoy the bright golden loviness!

Bogus Basin Resort, Idaho

Here I am with one of my fellow dietetic interns, Dana, at Bogus Basin Ski Resort just 20 minutes outside of Boise. The best thing about it was there were trees. If you look to the foothills of Boise you won't see a tree insight. It's totally bare until you get to the top and trees appear. Aahhhh, what a sight!

I'm going to be an autie again!!!

For those of you who don't know, Amanda Bacon, my sister-n-law is pregnant with her 4th child and I'm going to be an auntie again. It's very exciting to know that she's having a little GIRL! Yeah. Another addition of the female gender to the brood of 9 nephews. There will officially be 1/3 the number of nieces thanks to this addition. Way to go Jeremy and Amanda! : )

This ain't skool anymore!

As you may know, I have FINALLY started my Dietetic Internship and let me tell ya...this ain't school anymore! When you start school as a young child of 5 years old school is defined as a place where you have to go for several hours to eat lunch, play recess, and maybe learn a few things. Then it progress into a place where you have homework and recesses disappear. Suddenly you graduate from high school and you find that now you have a choice...do I work or do I continue with school? Hmmmm, what a choice! Many of us do both because we find out that now we have to PAY for it. School is no longer "easy". We are now required to be responsible. I have found that a Dietetic Internship is also not just school as we remember it. It's a full time job wrapped up in many learning lectures and MANY assignments that have to be done at home if need be. It's a constant learning session that you have to pretend you know what you are doing because after all...we'll be managing other people! Yikes!!! We had orientation week for the internship and what a wake up call! After a few days of heart palpitations, sweaty palms, and nerves going hay-wire I calmed down to realized that I have an entire year to get all these projects done. Phew! So to all of you who read this blog I sincerely apologize now for neglecting this site and not posting many things here for the next year. This is just a new definition of school for me for now.

New house in Boise!

My view of the road!

Moving to Idaho

You might have been wondering why I haven't been diligent on posting new things on my blog. Well, we moved to Idaho that's why! Our move went really well, better than we could have expected actually. We left out on monday morning, July 23rd where we proceeded to drive 600 miles to the border of Utah and Idaho. We got up early the next day to drive some more but soon arrived in Boise, about 300 miles later. We arrived much earlier than expected and so we started looking for housing. It was a little discouraging at first but the Lord provided on wednesday night. We now are renting a cozy little 2 bedroom, 1 bath house with a single car garage attached to it. It's in a great part of town near many parks, bike trails, and places I will be commuting to this next year. We love our new home and have finally made it our own. I think the setting up and unpacking is all over. Hallelujah!

Durango Colorado

Right after we arrived home from Yellowstone National Park, I found myself driving with my friend, Julie Preston, to Durango Colorado. She had just moved there from Anchorage, Alaska and I was going over to make memories with her, test out the great mountain biking, and see what the big deal was all about. What a cute little town. We did many things while I was over there including hiking, biking, white water rafting, jeeping, and going about the town.
